"Now the 28 countries with forces in the Gulf area have exhausted all reasonable efforts to reach a peaceful resolution, we have no choice but to drive Saddam from Kuwait by force. We will not fail." - US President George Herbert Walker Bush (January 16, 1991)
Following the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, the Iron Curtain had fallen off of its rod and Europe found itself reunited. With the Cold War declared won, the United States redirected its focus from the Soviet Union to other nations in desperate need of freedom and democracy. The invasion of Kuwait provided the perfect pretext for the U.S. to resume its role as the world police. NATO member states, along with their allies, embraced the responsibility of liberating Kuwait from the Iraqi invasion led by Saddam Hussein. In this historical NATO committee, representatives of NATO members will navigate the complexities of commanding their armies and engaging in diplomatic maneuvers with one another to stabilize the region -and perhaps profit off of Kuwait's rich oil fields while they're already there-
